In addition, for your reference, below is a link to the "Path to Reopening" slide show that was presented at the MUSD Governing Board meeting last night, July 14th, 2020. Respectfully, MTA and MUSD Slide Show Link Dear MTA Members,
Your union is working for you! We are in such strange times, aren’t we? There’s so much confusion, with rumors and suspicions flying just as fast as the virus. With all these unknowns, we want you to know as much as we know. It may not be very much as we face an uncertain future, but we are all in this together. Members of your union are participating in all the district taskforces. Currently, there are three taskforces looking at ways of proceeding in the coming school year. Each taskforce is made up of classified staff, certificated members, middle school teachers, elementary teachers, classroom support, parents, SPED representatives, site personnel, and district officials. Everyone is represented and conversation is lively and open. The Traditional Learning taskforce has looked at what safety measures can be taken if we are able to return to a traditional setup. Masks, distancing, scheduling, etc., are all points of conversation. The Hybrid Learning taskforce and Distance Learning taskforces are looking at alternate approaches that will balance student, staff, and teacher safety with our job of teaching students our state standards and helping them achieve academic success. We wish we could tell you we know exactly what’s going to happen in August. We don’t know exactly what’s going to happen tomorrow. Mandates and guidelines from the county, the state, and the Federal government come down to us nearly every day. These shift the conversations in unpredictable ways. What we can say is that your union is representing you in all these conversations. Your viewpoints are being shared. Your bargaining team is crafting Memoranda of Understanding and looking at contract language. Your union executive board is meeting regularly. Your union is working for you. Because we are better together. Yours in solidarity, Shelli Sullivan President Lee Eddy Vice-President Isela Smith Secretary |
